November's Program

November is our Quilted Arts Auction. Please bring your neighbors and friends. We will have refreshments and pretty art pieces. And, if you have not already done so, hurry and make your item and call Susan Oakes.

January will be “Demo Derby”. Fellow guild members have volunteered to share their knowledge and skills: Debbie (Thread Scarves), Ellen (Prairie Points), Lorraine

(Curved Piecing), Mardy (reverse appliqué), Gretchen (machine appliqué), Karen (Machine Binding) and Lynda. If you would like to share a technique, send us an email.

Storybook Quilt

On October 27th the storybook quilt committee delivered 14 storybook quilt kits to the Allen ISD librarians. The response was overwhelming. They were so excited to see the creative and beautiful quilts. They were very gracious and couldn’t wait to share them with their campuses teachers. Thanks for your hard work.

In order to make this project more meaningful for the students we would like for you to include a handwritten or word document explaining the quilter’s thoughts while working on the quilt, see example.

See Nov&Dec's Newsletter for a list of remaining books and the Storybook Quilt Project for reference. Questions? Email Heather.

BLOCK OF THE MONTH '08

Outreach

Please remember to bring non-perishable FOOD items for ACO. Only one item NOT wanted is green beans. This time of year we can be especially helpful to those less

fortunate. Your donations will be such a help for them to have a better holiday meal.

If you forget to bring items for donation in any month, remember there is a "money

container" for you to use.

Quilt Mania II is a collaborative exhibition of a wide variety of quilts through April 1, 2009 at eighteen Dallas area cultural institutions.

Quilt Crawls are planned for January 24, and February 28, 2009.

The crawls allow a great way to see several exhibits in one day, without having to worry about parking. The bus drops you off and picks you up at the door. It a fun day to spend with friends and quilts.

Fees include all admissions to six museums, lunch and bus transportation.

Registration information will be available on the Quilt Mania website.
