WORKSHOP NEWS WELCOME

NEWS FLASH

April Program

Trish Stuart's A Quilters’ Journey is on April 18th at 7:00 pm. Trish speaks with humor of her meandering path to the present and where she is headed, providing motivation for your own journey.

Trish has been quilting, writing patterns, teaching both nationally and internationally for over 20 years. The range of styles and techniques she offers is very wide, including but not limited to traditional piecing, appliqué, stained glass quilts, wool, and art quilts.

A frequent guest on network station quilt programs, she has also been featured in national quilting magazines.

Trish has published over 10 books as well as over 50 package patterns, created the Quarterly Clubs and is currently delving into creating contemporary wool projects.

The Allen Quilters' Guild is a 501(c)(3) organization, promoting the knowledge of all aspects of quilting including the heritage, education, art and friendship of quilting.

Meetings are held the 3rd Thursday of each month at the First Presbyterian Church of Allen.

There are several activities, workshops and community service projects to participate in.

TAQG Rally Day, Saturday, July 13, 2013!

Make plans to learn from this year’s speaker, Sue Reich. She will be conducting two workshops, Thursday, July 11, WWII, and Friday, July 12, Pennsylvania Applique. The cost for each workshop is $40. Registration forms are now available.

Each member guild is asked to donate at least 2 mini quilts or other well-made fiber crafted items for the auction. Quilts should measure no more than 24" x 24". The label should have the quilt maker's name, address, and guild affiliation either pinned or sewn to the back of the quilt. Please give your mini quilt or fiber item to Alice P. no later than the May AQG meeting.

Beautiful red, white and blue Rally Day 2013 pins are also available for $5.00 each.
Help AQG do it's part for Rally Day! Meet at Ellen S's house at 10:00 on Saturday, April 20 to cut and fold fat quarters. Each of the 38 member guilds are contributing to the Rally Day goodie bags. Our goal is 500 fat, so just think how many new fabrics you will receive when you get your goodie bag on Rally Day!

Thanks for helping AQG meet its goal.

The Community Service Work Night in March was a huge success. The great support of our members helped complete over 40 catheter bags to donate. They will be donated to the V.A. Hospital in Bonham later in the month.

NOTE: Please bring any project you may have
taken home to complete to the April meeting. We do not want to lose track of these items.
Don’t feel like sewing but would like to help?
Donate hair-care products to the April meeting for Hope’s Door. The organization is requesting shampoo, conditioner, combs, brushes, etc.

Sewing instructions for all of the community service projects are can be downloaded from the AQG Yahoo Group under Files > Community Service.
